First of all, I purchased an AEM filter to avoid having to use the two step K&N recharge process. I grew tired of walking the balance between inadequate oiling leading to dust particulate along my intake runner or over-oiling leading to fouled MAF sensors. Taking five thousand miles to find out if I got the oiling correct is too much of a concern when it comes to a daily driver.Enter the AEM sythetic media filters (and I went with a heavy duty model because I frequently drive on roads that are less traveled for a reason): Saturate with cleaner, backflush with water, air dry and go drive without any concerns until you need to service your filter again. I love it.This is the first time I’ve used the cleaner, and it does the job it’s supposed to do. The dirt came out without much of a fight, leaving the gray media… gray, and I feel confident that using the AEM product will keep my filter treated properly between services. Some people use Formula 409 or Simple Green. I prefer to stick with OEM: the small additional expense is more than worth it for a component as important as your air filter.

Bottle is actually a bit bigger than your average household cleaner bottle and the spray nozzle is actually made well. It’s just a bit finicky when it comes to the “OFF” setting, you have to have the turn head really flush with the spray head to prevent it from spraying when your done. I used “SPRAY” and not “STREAM” and it worked very nicely while cleaning my AEM filter. Directions are on the back and are worded clearly; however, the print is very small. After tapping what dirt and debris I could get out of my filter I did two full run-through’s of spray and wash and that seemed to be just right for amount of junk in the filter this time. I’ve found that if I place the filter on top of a box fan letting the air blow up into the filter overnight it’s completely dry in the morning.

I’ve had this about 2 years now…. and I am still on the first bottle! It works like a charm and I’ve cleaned all my cars (dry flow) air filters a couple times each. This spray is super easy to use and really makes it easy to wash all the dirt out of the filter without needing a high pressure hose (which can damage the filter). This is a must have if you have an aftermarket dry-flow air filter (its not for oiled filters). If this review helped you at all please mark it helpful, thanks!

My air filter has been on my car for about 10yrs but never cleaned till now.Did a lot of back & forth on the cleaning since it’s my 1st time cleaning the filter. Had to be sure I got as much dirt as I can.

I bought this cleaner for my K & N Blackhawk filter. It was not THAT dirty after driving around 8K miles, but I still bought this product and used it on it. After spraying it down and then washing it out, it looks as good as new. I have no negatives to say. There is enough quantity to wash the entire neighborhood’s filters. You definitely get your money’s worth. I recommend for all Dry Filters. Thank you much.Ps – the photos are of my filter after it was cleaned and reinstalled. Not before when it was a little dirty.

Works fine, but the item came in a box with only a plastic bag and it got spilled all over the place.

Used it on my roush CAI and it worked great. Gas mileage jumped up a whole mile after I cleaned it. I hadn’t cleaned it in a year since I did the mod because I wasn’t sure about it. It works great though.

Sprayer cap wasn’t fully seated from the factory, so the contents of the bottle leaked into the plastic bag it ships inside of. Be prepared to clean up a mess if you order this.
