From the research I have read online, this royal purple oil filter is among a select few oil filters which have the highest filter medium density, meaning it cleans a lot more contaminants out of your oil than a cheap knock off brand filter. If you can afford the few dollars more than what the K&N High performance filters are worth, These filters are the real deal. Glass/silicone filter medium is far superior than the paper type! I’ve been using these filters for my daily drive, they help keep your oil pressure at optimum, they don’t slow your oil flow down under heavy acceleration. Checking my oil every 1000km, I have noticed the oil on my stick is noticeably cleaner at the 7,000km mark than it would usually have been with the K&N filter.Great value for money. Dont buy those crap ones, this will give you peace of mind. keep your oil cleaner for longer :)you will get at lease 10,000kms out of this filter or 7250miles, however the manufacturer also states this filter will last another 50% longer than that at least. WARNING – be careful here, because your oil might not make it that far (unless your using high quality synthetics) and some cars require a certain interval of servicing.using full synthetic oil of a good quality, combined with this filter, and perhaps a washable K&N or HKS air filter, you could extend your servicing intervals by 5000kms or 2625miles, saving you $$$ and not harming your engine, unless your oil is getting really dirty.

Careful inspection of the filter element when cut in half shows that the filter material is far superior than the other cheap paper oil filters and the glass material allows you to go farther than the regular 3,000 miles. Personally, I like to go 4,000 or 5,000 miles on these and any more than that is risky. As for installation, the filter has a nice silicone seal at the top which works really well and you dont have to apply too much pressure with an Oil Filter Wrench, you could just use your hand and get it hand tight. Always make sure you put some oil inside the filter to prevent a dry startup after the first oil change.

First oil filter went missing in action. Second filter went missing for another week and arrived. (amazon bears no culpability) Although, I have a prime membership. Upon inspecting the filter there were metal shavings inside the threads (tried removing, but fell inside filter) and rust all over the rim. There is a quality control issue with Royal Purple. The filter was not properly packaged and was dislodged from it’s packaging. It was inside a large non protective envelope. It should have been in a box with filler. I’ve had horrible experiences getting oil and oil filters delivered, via amazon. What I don’t understand, is how to send leaking oil containers back to amazon. No problems with other competitors.Royal Purple makes an outstanding filter. I bought this filter because of it’s rugged, expensive cage and filtering media. Burst strength is 600 psi and it’s rated at 99@ 25 microns. I contacted RP and requested gallon per minute I wish it was rated like the Ultra which is 99.9 @ >20 microns. Had I put this filter on my truck, I would have introduced metal shaving into my engine. It’s designed to filter, not introduce foreign material. This filter is a near clone of the Amsoil EA15K20 oil filter. * Just a note, 331916 is an amazon stock number. Royal Purple does not recognize this number.*Update. I reached out to Royal Purple and they acknowledged there was a problem with metal shaving and rust. They apologized and sent another filter at no cost. When a company acknowledges a mistake and makes a client whole again. Well, RP won me over! I added two stars. Royal Purple was recently sold as well.

I purchased this filter based on a number of reviews and tear down inspections I’ve seen online. There are consistently two brands that are of the highest quality, one being Royal Purple, and the other it doesn’t really matter because they’re identical, made by the same manufacturer.I drive a highly modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X making 530 HP at the wheels as measured on a two different Mustang dynos. Actually it has measured between 520-540 depending on the weather. Since it’s an AWD vehicle, parasitic losses through the drive train could be conservatively estimated at 15%, meaning it wouldn’t be a stretch to say the engine makes over 600 HP at the flywheel. This is a fully built engine, forged internals, stroked out to 2.2L, built head, AMS TMP cams, EFR8374 twin scroll .92 AR.Initially I followed the advice of the engine builder and used a specific oil and filter. But I found that their performance was sub par. So I switched to Red Line oil and this filter. The car loves it. I’m getting 5 psi higher oil pressure at idle from this filter alone. Wish I had started using them sooner. My only complaint is the box they come in are cheap and fall apart in the mail. How about some packing Amazon? Two filters loose, flopping around inside the box during shipment? Train your employees.

If you put Royal Purple Oil in your car, you’d be crazy not to use this filter too. I will never use another motor oil or filter in my tuned WRX…never. It’s well-worth the money for your car. Never go cheap on oil. It’ll cost you in the long run.

Perfect for V8 Truck with 130,000 miles. I use KN and Royal Purple filters 50/50 with synthetic oil. Both are good and the best way to take care of an engine. Unfortunately, I rarely check oil level because it is always full and clean:)

No issues with using the oil filter as far as I can tell. Didn’t really notice any difference as far as the oil being any lighter or better performance.Definitely not a bad filter though not sure if the higher price is worth it.
