ACCEL Dodge Magnum Super-Coils have optimized low-resistance, high-turns-ratio windings, and an M36 high-silicone-magnetic steel E-core for higher energy and more voltage output. Designed as a direct performance replacement for Dodge trucks and Jeeps, these coils generate more power at high rpm and deliver quicker starts, a smoother idle, and crisper throttle response. ACCEL Dodge Magnum Super-Coils are compatible with MOPAR J-TEC computer-controlled ignitions.

I bought this coil in 1999 for a 1997 JGC v8 It works great and gives quick starts. I cannot understand the bad reviews. However I believe I have gotten value but I have kept the OEM just in case.Update: This coil worked for 18 years on the Jeep. In May this year I was getting misfires and the silencer exploded. I thought I hit an IED. But the silencer looked like a peeled banana. Well it was time to evaluate the cause.I was getting fumes from the remaining exhaust so I figured some spark plugs we’re not firing .The problem was the coil and as I had kept the OEM I put it on. Problem solved. So basically do not rush to change out parts unless you check the coil.

I wanted to give this 1 star because of its reliability. But I’ll leave it at 3. When this works I do notice quicker starts and a bit of improved throttle response. As far as horsepower or torque I noticed nothing. If you are buying it for improved mileage , horsepower you are wasting your money. I bought this on April 2012 and it stopped working in November 2015. It caused a major misfiring that eventually destroyed my catalytic Converter. It left me stranded causing the vehicle to be towed home. The original coil is back on and its been running great since. I regret buying this thing. It ended up costing me over $300 in emission repairs.

Coil output is noticeably better than factory one. If it continues working well and is reliable, I may give it another star, but time will tell. Reason for not rating higher is because of the absolute junk adapter that is “required” to connect the coil to input wiring that does not match the socket and pins of the coil. I sent one coil back thinking it was faulty. It worked maybe 2 minutes and the engine shut down. After installing the second one, it would not even start. It turned out that the connector was not making contact with the coil pins. I rigged up a way to force the connector in a little further, and it ran. I tried running it and the engine died once again after maybe 45 minutes of run time. Took the coil and adapter off, and made my own connection with 1/4 inch crimp connectors, and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Love the coil, hate the garbage adapter harness, and it’s about $23! Waste of money. Pictures show the coil installed and connected. Female connectors put over the pins in reverse, and male connectors crimped to the coil input wires, with a rubber cover with slots cut to push the male connectors through to help keep water and dirt out. Works great!

The super cool is everything that that it’s advertised I noticed immediate power throttle response and miles per gallon it’s a great coil

Always thought that you can only get so much spark out of a sparkplug, was i wrong. Installed this with Accel wires and plugs with Accel cap and rotor, #1)almost 6mpg more in city. #2)installed about 2 weeks went to emissions, 35% less CO2 output than previous emissions. #3)100% quicker starts. #4)throttle response is AMAZING. Overall this is the best tune-up my little 318 has had since leaving the factory. 5.2L 318 in a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 short bed extended cab 2 door.

Mileage is better, easy to pick in ,value could be better

I purchased this (along with an Accel cap and rotor) for my Jeep just over nine months ago. I thought highly of Accel’s products due to the reputation they have for being high-performance ignition products. However, after just nine months of use, this coil failed (failure happened about a month ago), which nearly left me stranded 15 miles into a trail. It would start and run for a moment or two, then fail again. Unfortunately, due to the age of this product, I thought that it certainly wouldn’t be the issue, so I proceeded to replace numerous sensors and even the PCM before realizing that the coil was the issue.Upon reaching out to Holley/Accel, I was told by Ben (“Customer Communications Specialist”) that there was nothing they could do due to it being more than 90 days past the purchase date. I am very disappointed in the negative result from Accel and the failure of the unit.In conclusion, pay close attention to the duration of the warranty of units such as this. Apparently, it says a lot about the expected service life of the unit.

Took me a minute to install, very easy anyone could do it. Will also be ordering this for my jeep, just make sure to disconnect battery before installing.
