I bought my battery March 29,2010 from Amazon. When it arrived, it tested 100% charged on arrival by my new battery charger/tester with an AGM type setting. All was fine until almost a month ago. We had the car detailed Nov 11th 2010, and the detailer said he left the car doors open for about three hours while he worked on the car. After that, it almost didn’t start. I put it on my charger and it wasn’t able to get it to a 100% charge. It finally quit trying and said the battery was bad. As long as I put the charger on it at night, it would operate just fine the whole day. I called Optima and was told to take it to a local Interstate battery distributor to have it checked. After a few weeks I finally was able to get to Interstate. They found a dead cell. I was lucky as they also sold the Optima battery, and replaced it on the spot. I was stunned as I was in and out within 20 minutes. I hope the new battery lasts longer than the first one. The new one checks out 100%.UPDATE December 9, 2012It has been over two years since I got the replacement battery. It still has as much power as when new, and we have had 0 problems with it.UPDATE December 1, 2013Battery failed November 29, 2013. It lasted exactly 8 months after the warranty expired. I would have bought another one except for the way it died. It went from being great as usual to totally dead. My wife drove to her destination, 15 minutes later she tried to start the car and nothing, not even enough power to run the dome light. I jump started it, she drove home, but it died during a slow turn. I jumped it again and I drove it home. As I got into the garage it died again. There wasn’t enough power for the doors to unlock when you go to park. We couldn’t open the driver’s door, but did get the passenger’s side open. Because the interior is so small, I had a hard time getting out. Usual most batteries fail with enough juice so I wouldn’t have been in this situation. So I bought a Everstart MAXX.

I run this battery in my 03 1500HD Silverado. I attached the blue spacer that comes with the battery to the clamp side of the battery and tighten it down. No issues. I just replaced (2022) the last Optima Red I bought for it. I had purchased that battery and installed it in 2017. I got 5 years out of that 3 year battery. Pretty good. My truck is lifted and quite bouncy and the Optima has no issues with the vibrations. I also like the dual terminal locations. Due to work, my truck may sit for a week or two and I put a smart charger on the top unused terminals to keep it topped off. Very convenient.

I have used many of the top brands of auto batteries. I have never enjoyed the longevity I had with the first Red Top battery that I bought in 2007. 4 years ago I moved that battery to my Gator and is in use to this day. The second one I bought 4 years ago, I am now moving to my tractor. Each new Red Top battery I purchase I install into my 2002 Suburban 1500 5.3 Liter vehicle first, then I move the “old” red Top into some farm equipment. I hope you have the same good fortune with the Red Top Battery as I have had!!!

The battery no longer will hold a charge. It was good for about a year but then after setting for 4/5 days at a time, the pickup (2000 Chevy C3500 7.4 L) would not start. I put my AGM charger on the battery to get it started and it was fine until the next time it was parked for a few days. After a number of starts, I found a lighted mirror, behind the sun visor, was on all of the time. I disabled the lights but the damage had already been done. I took the battery to a battery shop and had it tested where they had it for two days and said it would not hold a charge. So here I am, sitting here with a dead battery that nobody wants the battery or to honor the warranty. The ball is in your court. Thanks, Mike W.

Over the years, I have overpaid and purchased a total of six Optima red-tops, including two from Amazon in 2016 and 2018, for use in Dodge Ram Cummins pickup truck and Audi TT. The 2016 battery was replaced in 2018 for premature failure. That battery has now died in 2022. And both Optimas in the Dodge, replaced a few years ago, are dying. All vehicles are kept on AGM trickle chargers when not in use. The Optima red top battery has increased in price by 79% since I purchased in 2016. Going back to flooded lead acid.

I have a 1994 Ford Bronco XLT and the past batteries I’ve used were Bosch or Champion battery size 27. A bigger battery with high cranking amps. This battery is smaller and has just as much cranking amps as the bigger ones. This battery was less expensive than the others and has a 3 year Free replacement from the Manufacturer. I live in the Desert where batteries usually last about 2-3 years but this battery will last at least 4-5 years.I say that it will last longer because a friend of mine had one in his Ford 1 ton van for four years and one night he left lights on and it died. It was completely dead, not even the done light went on. So he left me with this battery and bought another. I took his battery and cleaned the terminals and put it on my charger on 2 amp trickle for a week. When I came back to check on it it was fully charged and held a charge under load. So I put it in my truck and used it for another 2 years until it was down to holding 75% charge. I still use it for running 12 volts pumps and its been 7 years total. If that’s not a good battery I don’t know what is.
