This battery was selected to replace a Subaru Outback 2013 OEM battery, and one of the main selling points was certainly the 3 yr replacement warranty offered by Optima. Problems first started surfacing around 2 years after purchase when we occasionally had to get the car jumped. The battery finally failed about 2.25 yrs after purchase. No problem, let’s see if the warranty will be honored.1) I called Amazon customer service and they informed me that I had to call Optima to handle the warranty claim.2) After spending some time navigating the Optima customer service line, I was informed by Optima that Amazon needs to handle the warranty claim and that they frequently have “misinformed” Amazon reps directing the claims to Optima. Optima has repeatedly asked Amazon to put a “pop-up” notice for the Amazon reps so that they realize that indeed Amazon should be handling the claim. Looking at the product description, I still see confirmation that the Optima reps are correct when Amazon is the seller (as it was in my case) “Please contact Amazon Customer Service with your warranty claim. For purchases from Amazon Merchant sellers please contact the seller directly for warranty support.”3) So I call Amazon again, spending close to an hour on the phone with a rep that insures me that they will take care of the problem today. Sure enough, after repeatedly confirming that : yes indeed there is a 3 year warranty, yes, indeed I bought the item from Amazon and not a merchant seller, I am abruptly told that they can’t either replace or refund the cost as “it has been too long from purchase date” (still well within the 3 yr period, mind you. At this point the Amazon rep asks me to write an email detailing the conversation with Optima (which I do). 1 week later, absolutely still no response from Amazon.I have gone to a Battery Dealer who used to be an Optima reseller (incidentally, … the battery load test indicated a failure with a voltage of 11.5 V) and the rep mentioned that they no longer supply Optima batteries as they have begun to fail at a faster rate in recent years (he attributed it to shift in manufacturing location to a lower cost country). He still recommended that I try to get the Optima warranty honored. The battery worked fine for ~2 years, but I would not purchase this product again as I wouldn’t trust the warranty.

Bought 20 months ago, won’t hold charge, confirmed professionally. Autozone told me it’s dead.~~~~Update: Aug 28 2019~~~~ There is some hope for resolution. Optima batteries don’t charge well if they’ve been drained under 10 volts. (Conventional car batteries can’t pull voltage up that that low.) So, Optima customer support suggested I charge the battery in parallel with a good battery, which will bring up the voltage to a level where a charger can take over.~~~~~Update Sept 3 2019 ~~~~~~I was able to get the battery charged back up to 12.35 volts, and it’s holding steady. These Red Top batteries cannot be charged with a battery charger if they get below 8 volts or so. So, Optima customer service stated I needed to hook the dead battery up in parallel with a good battery, and then do the charging again. This worked. the dead battery got up to 11 volts over a couple of hours of parallel charging. Then, I charged it on its own overnight, slow charge, and it’s up @ 12.35 volts. So, there are a lot of people who reviewed this battery high. and I haven’t given up on it. I know now, with this battery, it can’t sit in a car unused for 1-2 weeks without needing some extra TLC.On the bright-side, Optima customer care were helpful. And they told me that if the battery could not be charged back up, they would stand by their warranty, and work with Amazon to get a replacement. That’s pretty cool.3 stars = not a great product experience, being without a working battery for 1-2 weeks.but an extra star because Optima customer service was great.

Have read about these batteries for years as being passed from one vehicle to the next with buyers. They were also expensive. Have had issues with my Sears Gold Diehard AGMs in recent years and decided to try an Optima………wow, 900 CA !!!!!!! Most powerful car battery I’ve ever had, most expensive too………however, upon installing in my 2001 Lexus IS300, wow did it crank!!!!!!!

I have used Optima batteries in the past. But recently, financially, I simply could not afford one. Then I found myself and husband stranded at the grocery store. I called a tow truck and he used his jump pack to jump start the car. I was flummoxed. I had the battery *and* alternator tested previously due to some starting issues. (failure start) They both tested fine. Thankfully, my insurance coverage pays for things like that so I was not out of pocket money to the driver. That was my clue it was time to stop fussing with cheap batteries and bite the bullet. I am not sorry, not one single bit. The warranty Optima has, the durability, the reliability! The cold starting in the dead of winter. This company has never failed me. If you want a battery that will get you through the winter months, go get one! You think everything is fine, I don’t need that. My car starts. Well, remember back in the day when a battery was weak and cars didn’t have all the electronics in them? If you are old enough, you know what I mean. It would drag and you’d know simply by trying to start the car. But no. Not new cars these days. If your battery doesn’t have enough juice to start the car, it simply will not do a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g! No clicks, no starter grrs, nothing. You think to yourself, “I’ll just drive to the grocery store real quick to get the stuff I need to do the stuff I’m doing.” Then BAM. Nothing. Stuck. OOOORRR…. you’re at the grocery store. Seriously, get your stuff tested before colder weather hits. You do NOT want that tow bill!

I had limited space for a battery and this fit the space.

No issues with the battery since installing it in 2017. No signs of degraded performance and car starts right up every time. Good long lasting battery. Much cheaper a few years ago.
