I have been reading mixed reviews of Optima batteries since Johnson Controls took ownership, but decided to give it a shot since I could not find a comparable alternative that was proven superior. So far the battery is everything I expected – strong and consistent with a nice reserve capacity. If anything changes I will update this review but so far so good. The only issue was the packaging – actually there literally was NONE the way I found it on my porch. I came home and found the battery lying NEXT the box it was shipped in on it’s side, and the box had simply “busted” at both the top and bottom. The UPS guy did not even make an effort to put it back, and I don’t blame him as it’s not his job. Why the shipper used a paper-thin box with only one strip of tape, I cannot understand. I know for a fact when you order an Optima from the factory it comes in a very thick cardboard box with strong tape. This was the opposite – a box meant for shipping teddy bears not heavy batteries. I would not purchase this battery from Amazon again, simply because this vendor chooses to save a few dollars on economy packaging methods. I would rather pay more and not find my battery lying on the ground, obviously having burst through the bottom before the delivery man was finished setting the box down.

Product arrived as described. Fit nicely in my 2008 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 V6 (over an inch of extra room on each side). Chose the regular shipping/packaging. Delivered by FedEx with no damage in a cardboard box lined (top, bottom, ends) with inch thick foam. No visual damage from shipping. Battery was charged and after connection, the vehicle started up instantly. If the battery lasts as advertised I will change to love.Update: September of 2020 (bought in 2015) and the battery is still going strong. I have deep cycled it a couple of times (left lights, car electronics on, etc.) and it still holds a great charge after 5 years. Used a “re-conditioner” setting on my battery charger (CTEK (56-353) MULTI US 7002 12-Volt Battery Charger) because if the truck sat for more than 5 days the battery was struggling starting the truck. Reconditioning gave it a couple more days. I run these electronics; separate satellite radio receiver, ATOTO android in dash touch screen aftermarket stereo with GPS, WiFi etc.. HAM radio, various cell phone chargers, aftermarket rear LED light, PLUS all the normal (headlights, wipers, signals, etc.).I’m guessing that the bad review might be because they deep cycled the battery too many times and/or never put it on a charger/reconditioner when the battery sits for extended periods of time. One complaint is the battery was $199 5 years ago and now its $299?

It’s an Optima, need I say more? Best battery on the market! I’ve had a number of batteries for my ’05 Toyota Sequoia and this is the best. We tow a boat or our travel trailer a lot and use the lights a lot. I have an upgraded alternator however the other AGM and Gel batteries deep cycle and not could keep up and none have performed as well as the Optima YellowTop. This pup fires up my SUV like a rocket and always has the power to run everything. I love it and if you can drop the extra money you will not go wrong! Long term you’ll save money as I’ve go through 3 batteries over the years and this one will out last all three!

The Optima 8037-127 D27F YellowTop Starting Battery I purchased is now safely installed and charged in my 2005 Toyota pickup. The order was delivered quickly and safely. A similar was installed in another vehicle and has served well for several years. Although this new order came with the with enough charge to start my truck, I put a 2 amp charger on it to bring it to full charge. Shen removing the charger, I noticed a little round red sticker on the battery top with 5/15 printed on it. Perhaps I am misinterpreting, but I think this battery is already a year and a half old. It may not effect the length of the warranty, but the factory battery in my 2005 Toyota is just now being replaced after 11 years. This new battery was clearly unused, but I am not certain about it’s age? Perhaps the seller can fill me in?

I just replaced my Optima Yellow Top, 6.5 years after it was manufactured. My current battery is close to the end of it’s service life, but that may be another year or ? My neighbor will let me know how long the old battery lasts in his spare truck. This is a premium AGM battery that fits my Tundra without modifications. This is a dual purpose battery used for starting and high amp hour use. So you run your Jeep or 4×4 Truck in remote places, need extra juice for lights, winch, or fridge? Or you just never want to have a dead battery in your work truck. Yeah, spend a few extra bucks for the right tool.If you just want the best battery available then you want either Optima or Odyssey AGM batteries.

Purchased this yellowtop in 2014 for a 4×4 Tundra w/tow pkg, at $200 it was pricey then. Now at $330 nope nope nope. I haven’t noticed a difference between this and the $60 eversmart in cranking power or longevity.

I expected this to be a top notch battery. It lasted 6 years in a Tacoma that doesn’t get driven much and has an approved CTEK AGM charger attached. I will not buy another one.
