I live in the upper midwest and every single winter when the temperature starts dropping my car battery will die without fail. It’s not that old of a battery so I’m not ready to replace it yet, but I got tired of spending $60+ for a tow truck to come and jump start my car every time the battery died. I bought this, charged it up as soon as it arrived, and it’s since paid for itself in two uses. This device is a LIFESAVER for anyone who lives alone, doesn’t know their neighbors well enough to ask them for help, and can’t afford to have a tow come and give them a jump. The USB outlet and flashlight features are also great for if you need to charge your phone or other device when you’re broken down on the road, or need to look into those deep nooks and crannies under the hood to figure out what’s going on if the battery isn’t the issue. It’s lightweight too, easy to keep in your glovebox for an emergency when you’re out on the road. I’m so impressed with this thing I’m considering buying a few more to give as gifts to a couple family members. If you’re shopping for a reliable, portable jump-start device this one is worth a try!

I had my doubts about these based on reviews of this type of jump start units (in general). I’ve got a 2019 Kia Niro EV which has been a fabulous vehicle. But perhaps the weak link in it is the super small 12V battery that’s needed to start the all-electric car. Even if the driving battery is fully charged, if the 12V battery doesn’t have enough juice to start the car, you’re not going anywhere! These little batteries last around 3 years, and mine was failing (as I started to discover).Prior to getting a new battery, I purchased the NOCO Boost Plus GB40 – and it started my car without any problems, and it did so multiple times before I finally bought a replacement 12V battery for my car. It certainly lived up to what it promised.

It is easy to unintentionally drain the battery in a hybrid car. Since this was not my first time, I went looking for a solution that would: pay for itself after a couple of uses, be ready to go, no waiting – as soon as I need it, and allow me to safely start the car even if no one else is around. The NOCO GB40 does all that and is a decent flash light/phone charger as well. I don’t write a lot of reviews but I liked this product so much I wanted to tell everyone.I opened the hood, connected the GB40, got in the car and started it; about 45 seconds total. I did not wait for a tow truck to arrive, I did not go searching for an available neighbor with jumper cables, I did not call my cousin or his friend Jeff – I just started the car quick and easy.

I was bailed out one day by a coworker with this unit. Much easier to store, use and charge than the larger box unit I was using before, not to mention how much better it works. I ordered mine the next day, reading the reviews and not going with a less expensive option for something this important. This things works like a champ. Have to keep an eye on the power. I had let it get down to one red bar and it took a few minutes but even then it ended up getting my car started. Won’t make that mistake again. When the charge is full it starts the car right up. You can charge it while you drive so it’s always ready for you when you need it. Completely satisfied. Thank you.

So I purchased this Noco booster after I was stuck because of a dead battery. I purchased a new battery and decided I needed something… just in case.I had no need to use it until this weekend when I went to start my elderly Father-in-law’s car, and his battery was dead. No click, no light on dash, nothing, so below minimum volts.Got the booster and within a minute of attaching the cables to the battery, the car started on the first try.I let the car run for about 5 minutes, shut it off, and tried again. Dead again. (Guess I didn’t let it charge long enough). Reconnected the terminals and boosted the car again, and again it started right up.So two jumps without a recharge in between. So, can I recommend this booster? Absolutely. It’s like insurance. You hope you don’t need to use it, but it’s good to have, just in case.

I have one of these units in every vehicles, they’ve never failed me in comparison to the cheaper competition.Yes, this brand is a little more expensive than most of these type of battery packs on Amazon, but the others I have had have always swelled up on me, especially if it’s hot outside. I’m sure these will eventually swell up with the heat but they are very resilient to harsh environments. I usually have it stored in my backpack and carry it with me. It’s nice and light so I don’t even notice it’s there unless I need it.They do sell a fast charger separately that I wish they included with this unit, it does come with a micro usb cable you can use with most regular cell phone chargers, but you do want to charge it overnight before you store it in your vehicle. It does come with a decent owners manual. It also comes with a car charger and a little carrying bag to keep it all together.Overall as a brand I’ve learned I can trust NOCO to keep my car going. You can start your car multiple times before needing a charge, and it has an output usb charging port you can charge your mobile devices with.
