I ordered this kit in order to bring the 1406 up to a 1405 spec carb and then some. Which it will do, but that is the limit. Need another kit to actually take the 1405 base curve to higher performance. Very pleasee with my 1406 which is now a 1405. Really made the engine come alive, no stumble on hard accelerations. Update: FYI: I went to the larger jet, smaller rod, appeared to pick up some performance in HP, but, while doing many miles on the Hot Rod Power Tour my milage went from 23 MPG to 15 MPG. (Very rich just cruising) First chance I changed back to the original jets and rods. I did, against instructions, open the idle screws 1/4 turn beyond optimum set point and this almost completely reduced the stumble upon acceleration. Sticking where I am as long as fuel is at $3.54 a gallon.

This kit has the parts I expected to tune my 1406 carb. I wish Edelbrock made one with more rods and jets, but this one works fine. Has all springs, a few sets of rods and jets.

I bought 2 kits about 2 weeks apart. The first kit came in with a mixture of jets and metering rods but not all were the correct size. I thought I would send it back even though the package says that it can’t be returned if it is opened. I ordered a second kit and wait for it to arrive before I send the first kit back. It came in with the same date lot as the first. When I open the second kit it is just as messed up as the first. I call Edelbrock technical warranty department. I speak with Lance. Lance says that I was not the first to have this problem. I’m told that I can keep the wrong parts and the correct replacements will be shipping out. 2 weeks later I call back. I speak with Jim this time. Jim gets my number and calls me back. Jim tells me that he got with Lance and Lance will call me with an update on the shipment. 2 days later I call back and get a 3rd tech. He will have Lance call me since Jim is unavailable. 5 weeks from ordering the first kit I still have not received the correct parts to calibrate one carburetor much less two that I should have been able to.

The off-brand kits seem to be totally hit or miss (mostly miss), so the Edelbrock kits are the way to go: the jets, rods, and springs work and you can figure out which is which. Unfortunately, one set of jets (and I think a set of rods) is the same as what comes in the 1406 carb, so sorta silly to include those in this kit — would be better if they replaced them with different sized ones. While we’re on that subject: honestly, how much would it really cost Edelbrock to include another couple sets of jets and rods in this kit? Two more sets (one set leaner, one set fatter) would really be helpful when tuning, and make the kit seem like a better value. But I appreciate the quality.

Missing small clips for linkages. Other than that, good product. Content list inside the box says the clips are included. Have to open box to find out which makes the kit unreturnable

I got 2 sets of matching jets and the third set was two different sizes. Of course that was the size I needed. And one of the metering rods was bent nearly in half inside the box.
