I have to admit, I am a bit of a geek, often “over-analyzing” minor things like what my foot-pounds of torque are at various RPM stages and comparing my power band arc to other similar makes and models. That said i did some analysis into what oil would do well with my car. I wanted to make sure that I didn’t choose just “any” synthetic oil, after all there are still different levels of quality when it comes to Synthetic oils as well. In my opinion the oil and filter you put in your car is one of the single most important things any car owner can do. Here are my before and after calculations to Synthetic,Given: I drive a Ford Edge Sport Edition (this is the same Engine as the Lincoln MKX)Before Running OE conventional Oil: City MPG 18 / Hwy MPG 21After Switching over to Synthetic High Performance: City MPG 18.7 / Hwy MPG 24 (holy crap!)Improvement: City 3.8% increase / Hwy 14.3%*Note: My wife often says I drive like a bat out of hell, so keep in mind your results may vary from mine.

If you want your car or truck to last, then you need to use Royal Purple! I use this in my 2014 Ford F-150 STX (V8, 5.7L). It has increased my acceleration and I’m getting better gas mileage. I also use this is my 2007 Toyota Yaris. Combined with a K&N air filter and Royal Purlple I went from 34 highway MPG to 37 MPG highway. Lastly my parents use this in their 2001 Chevy Trail Blazer. Although it’s in rough shape, they have seen a smoother sounding engine, and a small improvement in MPG. I also recommend using the Royal Purple oil filter, if you do the research it’s simply the best. My oil change intervals for my F-150 were 6,000 miles for the first, 7,500 for the second and now I change at 9,000 miles. The reason I did this is the HSP will clean out the old dirty oil from lesser quality oils. Now when I change at 9,000 miles, the oil is still purple and clean!

My review is tentatively restricted to use of the filter on 2011 and newer Mustang GTs and Boss 302s. Royal Purple has a great reputation particularly their fluids, but I won’t buy this filter anymore. Definitely not for my Mustang, possibly for any vehicle.I am currently on my second Royal Purple filter on this car. During the last oil change, which I did myself, I noticed there was oil that had leaked all over the undertray. I lowered the undertray and saw that the filter had backed way off and was leaking badly. I assumed that someone who had worked on my car recently accidentally brushed by it and loosened it or that there was a small chance I had screwed up originally when installing it. I already had a new Royal Purple filter, the oil had already been drained, and I had no reason to suspect the oil filter was the problem so I went ahead and used the new one making extra certain that the surfaces were clear of debris and the filter was adequately tight without overtightening; a procedure I have done many many times in the last 15+ years including professionally. Recently, I noticed the morning after it rained there was a film of oil all over the ground around my car. I looked underneath and saw oil coating most of the undertray. Checked the oil level and it was down 1-2 quarts (8-quart capacity). Put the car up on ramps, lowered the undertray, and saw that the new oil filter had also backed off. I luckily seem to have caught it early due to the rain as it wasn’t nearly as loose as the previous one.I can’t guarantee it’s the filter that is the problem, and if it is the filter I can’t guarantee this problem will also happen on other cars, but the same thing happening two times in a row on the same vehicle combined with not having any such problem with a Motorcraft filter is strong evidence it’s the filter causing this extremely serious issue which could result in a destroyed motor. Replacement 5.0 motors are over $6k just for the motor plus there is the labor cost involved in doing a motor swap which is very expensive as well. For anyone that does decide to use this filter, check under the vehicle for signs of leaking frequently, check the oil level on a regular basis, and have a couple of quarts of oil available to add as needed. Especially if you have a car that recommends oil change intervals using full synthetics that result in not doing another oil change in excess of 6 months as that is when my problems seem to manifest.

One of the best filters on the market. Never had a problem with the case crushing when trying to remove, and the filtration is always great!

I ordered 2 RP #20-500 filters, both arrived with no rust or deformity at all. Both looked brand new and perfect. I’ve no complaints, & am very satisfied.

This is my first time using RP products, I wanted to get their high mileage oil as well but I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted for the most part, when I did find it the price was much higher than other places and I didn’t feel like shopping around.anyways, filter wasn’t rusted like other buyers have reported so I was happy about that. Filter slid on great , using on a 2013 f150 5.0.I noticed improved power and a smoother ride. Will report back after I change the filter In the future so I have a better understanding of the products quality long term.

I Liked the Fact that the Filter is Built nicely and has Good Filter Media In it. I do NOT LIKE the Fact that it was Out of the Original BOX and ROLLING Around in the Bag Getting all scratched up???
