I needed to place a 4 bbl carb on a 2 bbl manifold so I could test it after installing a rebuild kit and make idle mixture adjustments before putting the carb onto the receiving vehicle engine. There was no physical way to reach the mixture screws on the carburetor once it was installed onto the engine in the vehicle (Ford E-250 ClubWagon). This adapter was installed onto a 305 Chevy engine which I had configured onto a home made stand-alone test stand, complete with all components (radiator/alternator/battery/fuel supply etc). This adapter enabled me to test and adjust a 4 bbl Holley on a live ‘sound’ engine with plenty of open access space prior to installing it onto the engine of the receiving vehicle. The kit contained everything I needed to accomplish my goal. This kit was not used on an engine used in an operational vehicle, but I saw no reason it would not perform satisfactorily if that were to be the case.

IF you are going from a 2 to a 4 barrel, this adapter can be used. The problem is, the allen set bolts that are supplied to sit lower to clear the throttle butterflies are not suited to actually holding the bracket down. They fit inside the mounting holes which doesn’t work. I got a 1″ drill bit, and clamped the adapter to my drill press. I then set the depth to allow for 1/4″ off the table. I drilled out where the adapter mounted to my intake on all 4 bolt holes. I then used normal bolts with a 7/8″ish wide washer that fit in the holes so I could use a much smaller gasket on top.I say 3 stars because it’s not truly universal both ways. I will include pictures of my setup on here so you can kind of see what I did. Hope this helps.

Fit my Edelbrock Streetmaster intake perfectly and my 2 barrel Rochester carb mounted perfectly to the adapter plate as well BUT I had to cut an ear off so it wouldn’t interfere with my high idle setup. The engine came out of a 1984 Impala with a 305 (5.0l) it’s now in a 1955 Massey Harris 44 so I have PLENTY of h.p. so no need for 4 barrel and waisted fuel. All in all it’s not bad for the price and a 5 minute mod with an angle grinder. *Edit* I’ve recently learned that the ear I cut off is for a Carter (Ford) carb with a larger body so if that’s what you’re using it for you should have no issues.

If used to go from a 2-barre to a 4-barrel carburetor then this should work okay, but if you’re trying to mount a 2-barrel motorcraft carburetor to a 4-barrel intake then this isn’t the piece you want. It would work with slight modifications to the carb body but you shouldn’t have to do all that just to move the bolt holes 1/8” to where they’re supposed to be.The quality is nice and it comes with gaskets and hardware, but not usable for my application.

used this to put a carter 4 barrel on an old AMC 343 2 barrel. i see other reviewers had issues with fitment and clearance but there are a number of different configurations. you will likely need remove your studs and replace with the included hardware. some manifolds, such as mine, had an intermediate plate that needed to be removed. but otherwise all gaskets, hardware were included and fit perfectly. bolt adapter to manifold then carb to adapter.i cannot speak for the reverse (4 barrel to 2 barrel) but i believe it is machined to then use the same allen bolts in place of studs (you would have to bolt carb to adapter and then bolt adapter to the manifold in that sequence).

Fit and works well. Would have given 5 stars but gasket for 2bbl side too small for motorcraft 2100.
