Mr. Gasket is well known to make excellent products and I have used a variety of their products for over 20 years now. This product is designed to protect your starter from the heat of the exhaust and motor to prevent premature starter wear and help in starting your car faster and stronger. It is very easy to install and goes on quickly. Some applications might be very tight with not much room left but it should fit. This prevents you from having to replace your starter regularly. Performance minded products from a performance minded company!

I have a chevy small block V8 and a high torque starter…..the holes did not line up and was only able to put one screw at front of the car instead of both and had to bend the plate to make it work. I had a mild heat soak issue because of headers and could still start the car when warm but would almost drain the battery every time. Btw battery is a brand new optima red top….waiting to test it out and see if it worked for my particular application. Item is well made but my upgraded starter seems to be more of the problem bc of length and width.

This heat shield works great BUT its designed for the OEM style starter. I had to modify greatly to use it on a summit Mini High Torque Starter.

Product received is not the same as pictured. Save some money and buy the less expensive competitor’s version. I chose to pay the extra for the Mr. Gasket model as it appeared to be of better finish than the ones pictured by competing manufacturers. For example, I liked the “Mr. Gasket” logo etched into the unit as pictured. The one received has no such logo, the double plate metal layers fail to line up along the posterior edge, and the outer surface has many scratches. Might as well have bought the less expensive choice.Update: 8-19-18 Installed heat shield onto car, fairly straightforward, looks good but doesn’t work. Starter still overheats after engine shut off and fails to restart until cooling time allowed. Should have tried the starter heat wraps.

LOOKED NICE BUT THE SORT OF UNIVERSAL DESIGN DOES NOT WORK SO WELL, I BELIEVE THAT INSTEAD OF SHIELDING AGAINST HEAT IT MAY HAVE TRAPPED HEAT BECAUSE THE NEWLY REBUILT STARTER BEGAN GIVING PROBLEMS WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS, THE SOLENOID GOT HOT AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE UNTIL CAR COOLED DOWN ABOUT 40 + MINUTES,

Fits ok…but it really didnt do anything to stop the starter heat soak issue. Dont waste time and money buying one of these. Replace the starte instead with a hi torque mini gear reduction starter instead. I found a replacement starter for $85 and have never had heat soak issues ever again. This heat shield is a band -aid fix if anything

It’s working good so far. No Chevy slow crank after it’s warmed up.
