I am like a lot of people wanting to save a few bucks. Unfortunately when you buy economy batteries you often lose money in the long run. This was the case for me so this time I went with a recognized industry leader. Optima batteries are top of the line and the difference in power and run time increase with these batteries is amazing. One word of caution. These are AGM batteries and they must be charged with a charger programmed for AGM batteries. If you use the wrong charger it could damage or destroy the charger and/or the batteries. Fortunately the onboard charger in my bassboat is designed to charge all types of batteries and a simple change of a screw in sensor ensures I will have these batteries in service for a very long time. When these batteries were delivered one of them was upside down. You can mount AGM batteries at any angle because there is no possibility of losing acid from the battery. The acid is soaked into fiberglass pads inside the battery. They were fully charged when I received them and I fished 2 long days with them before charging for the first time. I would highly recommed these batteries for any marine application. For the fishermen who have not used AGM battrries a word of caution. AGM batteries provide full power until they are dead. Most batteries will provide less and less power as the charge is depleted. That is a positive thing. Just know that when your battery loses its charge you have no notice. I charge every time I go fishing so I dont see this as a problem..

This battery packs a wollup of cranking power. I replaced the OME battery in my 5.0 GT Mustang with this battery. It fits the tray but some altering with the bracket securing the battery down is needed. My car has an updated electronic ignition along with a high performance starter. Between the two, it takes just a little more oomf than the OEM battery can withstand over time. My car would start up after 5 or 6 turns before replacement. Now, it is instantanious. first turn of the key and she is humming along. A noticable difference in power.

I have 2 of these in my boat that still worm perfectly. They were bought and installed in 2009. I have since bought 2 more for RVs and 1 for another boat, and none of these lasted over 3 years. All were kept charged at all times. A former employee of Johnson controls told me that they moved manufacturing to China and cut quality, but they are still charging a premium price.

I’ve had the yellow top version for years on a pontoon boat with a 60 hp outboard that never really gave them much of a charge. These batteries are the best batteries I have ever purchased for this purpose. Holds a great charge. Had a pretty elaborate stereo system which I cranked constantly and these batteries did the job. Only chose the blue tops with the light gray bottoms because they were designed more for marine grade applications having the two different size posts at the top. Recently used a solar panel with the yellow tops that I had before and never had to pull them off the boat one time to charge. I would highly recommend even though they are a little pricey I think you will be really surprised with their performance.
