I am now on my third Odyssey battery. The first lasted 3-4 years so I bought another. The second lasted 2.5 years and when I contact Odyssey to inquire as to why the lifespan was diminished from my previous one I was given a bunch of reasons as to how I had screwed up the battery’s life by not maintaining it, not driving the car enough, not having the correct alternator (seriously?) etc.I gave in and purchased a third battery from them just 9 months ago AND purchased a $240 Odyssey/EnerSys charger so that I would never again be a “bad battery owner”. Well, here I am 9 months later with a dead battery that their charger says needs to be checked and will not charge.Upon contacting them, explaining that I drive the car very infrequently and thus having the charger connected pretty much 95% of the time, here’s what they said:”Yes, the battery is dead. In fact, it is over-discharged at less than 10.0V therefore the warranty is void per the attached ODYSSEY warranty for your reference.”They then offered to allow me to return the battery for an “autopsy” and if they determined it was a defect they would replace it however, if not, they would simply keep the battery and tough luck to me.So, between the battery and charger I spent right on $500 (not counting my previous battery purchases from them), and they seem to be more interested in being right and maintaining their moral high ground than in servicing their customers.I will be purchasing an Optima or other similar battery to replace this one and won’t ever consider another Odyssey/Enersys product in the future.**** UPDATE 2014 ****I finally did receive a phone call from a manager at Odyssey who was very nice and sent me a replacement battery at no charge. As a result of this follow up, and taking responsibility for their actions, I have upgraded my review from 1-star to 3-star, but I cannot go any higher than that in good conscience as the replacement SHOULD have been their first response rather than putting me through the wringer first.

I have the Odyssey PC1200 battery in my Willie Boat, Jet boat. This battery came with the boat when I purchased it in 2004. Seventeen years later, the battery started to lose its charge or at least I could not fully trickle charge the battery. So, I purchased a new replacement. Depending on who you buy the battery from, it comes with the SAE battery connectors already attached. Some suppliers sell the battery at a lower cost buy you will need to buy the connectors.I have the highest regards for this maintenance free battery. The boat and battery sit outdoors in weather from 90+ to 30 below zero and it just keeps firing up when boating season begins. I have never had a single issue with this battery. It is compact.Even though this is listed a primarily an auto battery, it functions exceptionally well in my jet boat. This is an outstanding battery.

Beware! Amazon’s item page reported this as an “amazonconfirmedfit” for my 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan.But:1/ it is not compatible with the car’s original hold-down clamp2/ there is no adapter or alternate hold-down mechanism which can adapt it, not even the manufacturer’s separately-sold $180+ (!) hold-down kit3/ upon contacting Odyssey, the manufacturer, by email they reported (exact quotes): “PC1200 is not a battery that is recommended for Any car, due to the fact that is does not have a proper hold down foot.” and further “My suggestion would be to take that battery back to whatever retailer told you it would fit your car.”Its power output seems sufficient, and the fact that it’s smaller/lighter than batteries with less output/capacity might make it great for some other uses. Maybe, as a non-primary battery in an RV? Or solar-power system? Or other non-automative applications? But it does not “fit” as a drop-in replacement for usual car batteries, for the kind of secure attachment that’s standard for safety and longevity/reliability of the battery and attached components in a car engine compartiment. And per above, despite any reference to “automative” in the product description, the manufacturer itself disrecommends it for “any car”.Get something else unless you’re sure this form-factor is what you need, for something other than a car.
