Everyone should change their starter for their classic Cars that is shifting or changing from an old school to new school starters. You don’t want to end up driving your classic car to a car show and then you want to start to move back home the car won’t start because of the starter now that’s a big problem.

Can’t rave enough about this starter. Literally almost half the size of the original starter on my 421 tri-power. Way more breathing room under the four tube headers. Turns my 12 to 1 compression motor in my ’65 GTO over like it was a four cylinder. Quality anodized bolts and all, and bolted right up without needing any shims. I can’t recommend this starter enough, and an excellent value on Amazon over the two famous catalog hot rod companies. If you own a Pontiac muscle car, this is a must have.

Powermaster is the brand EVERYONE uses when it comes to a high torque starter. They are relatively affordable and gives you so much added room to work, especially on a manual A-body car where room is at a premium on the drivers side with the Z bar, clutch linkage, battery cable, speedo cable, reverse lights wiring, brake lines, cross member and exhaust! It seems to fit my Lakewood bellhousing just fine too.However…..Mine did NOT come with the included shims and bolts, even the instruction sheet is missing! The box was beat up, has holes, but amazingly, the Amazon box was immaculate, so…. It was obviously mailed off damaged. There was NO padding in the Amazon box either! The mounting block on the starter was significantly dented on a corner, which I did fix with a file, but it was obviously dropped from a decent height. Who knows if this starter would even last after taking such a hit from being dropped. I planned on having this installed and shimmed today, but looks like I’ll have to wait till next week for a replacement! Beyond angry…. This is obviously a returned starter that they didn’t bother to make sure it had all the parts and just made it my problem. Now I’m going to be a week behind and won’t make this weekends car show. Thanks alot….UPDATE: Amazon sent me a replacement and it had the appropriate parts this time. Installed with ease now that I had a ton more room. And man, does this thing spin my big block, high compression, flat tappet engine over with EASE! So wish I had done this sooner! My other classics will be getting one of these eventually!

Much smaller & lighter than the original part. Perfect if your running headers.

This thing fit really well, never overheats (like when you drive 30 minutes, stop for gas and have the hard starts of an overheated starter) and sounds really cool when starting. I put this on my ’72 Pontiac and will never look back.

Instructions were excellent. Bolted right up on my 1970 455 motor. Working flawlessly!

The starter is great. But you need a #600 harness if you have a car with points in distributor. This is a fail on Amazons part not to recommend the harness with this starter.

Fit ok on my 65 GTO with Ram Air exhaust manifolds. The clocking feature gave me just enough room. Motor turns over quickly, the starter sounds cool, and no more heat soak.
