I love this product but…The block on my 1964 283 chevy had 5/16 threads. The thru holes on this adapter was for 1/4 bolts. So I had to drill out the adapter plate for that larger bolts. Then I had to go to Ace Hardware and by the correct length bolts since the stock bolts were too short.I was under the impressing this was a made to fit part and didn’t require any mods.

I was working on a 57 chevy for a guy and he wanted to change to a newer style spin on filter. This kit went on nicely and works great with no leaks

This works on my 67 Camaro- it replaces the canister filter and allows you to use a spin on

I switched to this filter adapter on my 65 Chevy II Nova with an original 327 engine. The engine uses a canister filter that is really messy to remove and replace. I had a different “Spin on” adapter from a company that makes Gaskets if you know what I mean. I always leaked oil on my garage floor and every where I parked for longer than 30 minutes. I was a little skeptical because it had less parts than the other one and didn’t seem to go up into the space it was suppose to fit. Well, laa dee daa, to my sheer amazement my garage floor and bottom of my restored Chevy II Nova is now BONE DRY! Only draw back is I have to use a different spin on filter that has the bypass built into it. Small price to pay for no leaks. NAPA and Amazon carry the Wix filter it uses so it’s readily available. I would have provided a picture of it installed, but did not think of it before I put the filter on. That sucker isn’t coming off until it’s oil change time.

Make sure you silicone to seal everything

Very easy to install. I tried several other brands and they all leaked like crazy. This one went on easy and hasn’t leaked a drop so far.

Many people assume it’s the cheesy tin nut that tightens down the adapter and compreses the o-ring above. Truth is the tin nut only appears to be useful in keeping the adapter from falling down when the filter is removed. What tightens the adapter enough to seal the o-ring is the actual tightening of the spin on filter cartridge. The adapter is sandwiched in between the block and the spin on and the more you wrench that spin on filter down, the tighter it squeezes the adapter to the block. It took me two tries to figure it out and I had to crank my filter down pretty hard to get it to stop dripping.
