My 04 Chevy Cavalier had a AEM cold intake system when I bought it. I finally figured out how to check the filter by unbolting the driver side head light. The old AEM filter seemed to be too long as it had dented in the covered end side pushing against the inner front wall. I washed that old air filter but the filter materials started to disintegrate leaving some hole here in there big enough for sand and dirt to enter easily. The replacement Spectre filter fit easy enough to the AEM pipe and I use the same clamp from the old filter. It fit perfectly where the old filter was located. The material looks durable and the price is just a few dollars more compared to similar round paper filter sold in Walmart. Instead of buying a $20 pre-filter by K&N, I cut up one of my wife’s old nylon stocking and wrapped it around this filter as a Pre-filter.

Purchased my 2007 Jeep Wrangler with a Spectre Cold Air Intake already installed. The filter on it was old, not maintained and disgusting. I purchased this one to replace the filter and the fitment was exact. Took 5 mins to replace. Overall my mpg went from 14.5 mpg to 16.1 driving the same routes at the same speed. More pickup with the vehicle as well. Very great upgrade for the price!

If it does not fit, then you need to take it inside (or throw it on the dash with the heat on high) and heat the inlet tube until it’s soft (don’t be that guy and use a flame or scorching heat) then promptly place it over the air intake hose and tighten clamp. Easy as pie. (It should go without saying, but you can easily melt/deform the inlet & filter and as a result, render it useless.)

So I did an unconventional installation for this filter. I didn’t buy it to make my old car faster, but because the original filter box was USD $270.00. I left the resonators on to silent the filter and just installed it exactly where the original filter box used to be. What you need to know is that it will not fit a 3 inch pipe (metal or plastic) from the same brand (spectre) those pipes are a little wider and this filters are made of rubber , not from stretchy silicon. What I did was to insert the rubber part in hot water for 10 seconds (it is really that fast) and then attached it to the 90 degree tube, it sealed perfectly! I was surprised of how easy it was, then put a clamp on it (4 inches clamp) to secure it. I then attached it to the tube where the airflow mass sensor is located in my car, and the filter rests infront of the front wheel behind the mudguards , it is protected from dirt in there, and my car has a pipe that injects outside cooler air in that area of the car. that was it. No check engine lights, no problem whatsoever. It took me longer to take apart the car to install it, that the installation itself. I am sure it is much easier to attach it directly to the throttle body, but I didn’t want the “racing” sound in my car and mess around with wires to extend my MAS connection.

Besides not having clamp it fits well. Custom application on watercraft

Good quality and value. The black color of the filter gives it a stealthy appearance but makes it harder to see when it is dirty and needs cleaning.
