The last time I had an alignment done, the tech said that the steering wheel wasn’t straight because the steering rack bushings were worn; I didn’t know that was the cause of that particular problem so I decided I’d replace them.I used the Whiteline bushings to replace the original steering rack bushings on a 2003 WRX with 161,000 miles. I couldn’t tell you how these compared to new OEM bushings but compared to the worn bushings these are very nice. Steering response returned or improved and the steering wheel is now straight and when it’s turned the car goes in the direction the wheel is turned (no more slack in the wheel). Also, when I would cruise down the interstate at around 70MPH I could feel some movement in the front-end when I would get hit by crosswinds, that seems to have also subsided as a result of the new steering bushings.

I bought this for my 93 Subaru Legacy L and they were an exact fit.The results may not blow your mind right away, but if you take your car for a more spirited drive, like around a round’a’bout, then you will notice what an improvement has been made. Those complaining about the install need to do more research before they tackle this project. I read several Subaru forums and watched a video on Youtube that explained the process pretty well. Only thing that I was iffy about was having to ‘gently’ bend my powersteering lines that were in the way of the braces. Once I did that I had more room to work with under the car.Torque specs on the brace bolts for my car were 41 ftlbs. Also, please be sure to use some grease on ALL contact surfaces of the bushings. I used marine grease as it is designed to hold up to exposure to water, which being under the car it will be in contact with.Last side note is to not pay attention to the Whiteline fitment on the website. From what I read ALL USDM Subarus use this kit and NOT the KSR200 that they say fits correctly.Best of luck.

These are a great upgrade. If you are replacing a steering rack, do yourself a favor and upgrade to these while the rack is out of the car. If you are just upgrading you still have to drop the rack out and fight the brackets to install. They give the steering a much tighter feeling over the OEM bushings. The bushings I ordered on a Monday morning and they were delivered Friday morning. Packaging was a resealable bag like candy would come in. The bushing I received are black not yellow as pictured. Color does not matter to me, they are installed and feel great. They fit was perfect and tight. I did add some bushing lube so I don’t have noisy bushings down the road.

I can’t give a definitive review on the product alone. I replaced the power steering pump, rack and rack bushings at the same time, pump was leaking, rack boots torn for a couple years. Bit the bullet and did all of it. Old rack bushings were smashed and worn through. From what I can tell from installing them, they are stiffer than stock, and should prohibit the rack from moving. If something stock is coming out, sometimes better is going back in.

The difference these make, especially in an older car (subaru forester 2000) is incredible. My Subaru had a bad passenger side bushing and since getting the driver’s side one out was too much a hassle I decided to check how much a difference does that one bushing makes. Its amazing that changing even just one bushing to this makes steering a lot more stable, noticeably so at highway speeds! I ended up changing the driver’s side bushing from the old stock one to whiteline as well and I am very happy with the end result!

Good quality. The passenger side is definitely easier so probably do the driver side first or else you’ll have a false sense of confidence. I gently pried the hard lines and released the steering linkage to get more room. Use white lithium grease on the inside and outside. My old bushings weren’t that bad, but I do think my steering is a little more direct and tighter.

This fit my 2000 Legacy Outback. It was a total pain to install, i think this varies between which model of subaru you have. I also believe a lot of my troubles were due to the corrosion of the casing of the steering rack. The driver’s side was most difficult. If you have trouble i highly recommend unbolting the u-joint on the steering shaft and shifting it down, allowing the rack to drop slightly more. Make sure to mark the u-joint before you loosen it, to make sure you put it back where it was.Handling feels drastically different. Its much stiffer to turn the wheel, but not to the point of it being problematic. ALSO this resolved what i thought was an alignment issue. Often, especially on the highway my car would pull to the sides. I believe this was due to play in the old worn out bushings (20 years old!). Overall, GREAT mod for the money. Nice noticeable difference. Be prepared, it might take you a long time to install.

All the bushings come with slits of course to allow the bushings to be slid into the rack. However the driver side bushing came out of package torn at the edge where the bushing keeps the rack from sliding horizontally.Unfortunately I found this out after I had already dropped my steering rack and pulled out my old bushing. I’m just going to go with OEM. Returning item.
