Wix Coolant Spin-On Filters are designed to remove the particulate contaminants from the cooling system. They are made of pleated paper which filters the contaminants down to microscopic size and provide a linear path for low flow restriction. This is a shorter version of the Wix 24070, for use in tight-space applications. It is a basic filter with no SCA chemicals. I’m using it for a gasoline engine so this is good. There’s not much else to say about it. It filter a LOT of crud out of your coolant. I couldn’t believe how much it had caught when curiosity got the better of me and I cut open my first one after only 350 miles (about one week of back and forth to work). This was very surprising as I have always flushed the system and changed my antifreeze at the recommended intervals. I can’t say how much effect this will have on the life of my water pump or engine as a whole, but I think it’s good that the stuff is out of my coolant. My antifreeze also went from being dark red to bright red, like brand new. Note: this will not fit a standard oil-filter base. You must use it with an 11/16-16 water/coolant filter base. It must also be plumbed as a BYPASS filter. It is much too restrictive to use as a full-flow filter.

Shorter filter replacement for the 24070 when space is an issue. Works great on the 6.0 coolant filter/oil bypass kit from Sinister.

Installed this WIX filter with a Mishimoto kit on a 2004 stock 6.0 Powerstroke (The longer 24070 filter provided with the Mishimoto kit was rubbing against an A/C line, so I switched it out with this shorter 24069). The filter is heavy duty and made in the USA.
