Wix Coolant Spin-On Filters are designed to remove the particulate contaminants from the cooling system. They are made of pleated paper which filters the contaminants down to microscopic size and provide a linear path for low flow restriction. These filters reduce corrosion and abrasion of hydraulic components and are highly durable and reliable.

It was a fairly easy project, but the fittings are not direct thread in, Had to use an adapter on the vent to go from 1/4 to 3/8, also the plug in the head was a 1/2 and had to reduce to 3/8 with a 3″ pipe and a 3/8 union. The clamps were very poor as before you could begin to tighten them down they stripped out and when you try to back off the screw comes out. Other same type items cost way more so the fooling around to make this work was not all that bad, just be ready to make it work as it is NOT a direct fit. Also the mounting bracket holes to the filter mount were off, but a few minutes with a file and the holes were opened up and was ok. The problems with this made a 1.5 hour job into about 3 hours to round up the parts and search my junk draws for the fittings needed. You will need smaller clamps for the 2 hoses as the ones supplied are to big and will NOT clamp down small enough before stripping. It is still a good buy just be aware of the issues..

This is a good coolant filter for my 6.0 Powerstroke. It has done its job for me.

2006 6.0 powerstroke diesel. A must have to keep coolant clean.

The item is not the cheapest but it is worth it as it filters coolant well.
JD English –
Good fit

Third year running this specific filter; change annually with my tag registration. Post use forensics show it captures coolant particles and scale well…but the element paper degrades with longer than annual change intervals.I enjoy less than 10deg differential between coolant and oil temps, so this filter keeps my oil cooler free of debris.

Would be good to add some flutes or grip material to make getting the old one off easier.

I have been using this model filter for my Ford 6.0 for the last 10 years or so. I change it once a year regardless of mileage and have never have any coolant issues. It seems to filter just as it should.
